Set Up Occupancy Rules in Channel PRO
Want your accommodations to adapt to each season without hassle? With occupancy rules, you can define minimum stays, restrict check-in or check-out days, and customize conditions for each portal.
In short: turn your calendar into a strategic tool that works for you, not the other way around.
🔹What are occupancy rules and what are they for?
Occupancy rules are conditions you set to control how and when your accommodations are booked. They give you flexibility and allow you to adapt your business to the demand at any given time.
Some practical examples:
In July and August, require minimum stays of 7 nights with check-ins on Saturdays.
For the rest of the year, allow 3-night stays without restrictions.
In the low season, activate special conditions for weekend getaways.
This way, you reduce manual management and automate your strategy across all connected portals.
🔹Pay Attention to Details: Synchronization with VRMS
The relationship between Channel PRO and VRMS is crucial:
Does not exempt from using VRMS: Setting up rules in Channel PRO does not replace those in VRMS. If there are no rules in VRMS, online bookings will fail. Think of Channel PRO as an extra layer of customization.
If there are no rules in Channel PRO, VRMS rules apply: The system will send what you have configured in VRMS.
Beware of expired rules
An expired rule blocks the availability of accommodations on the portals and causes them to lose visibility.
⚙️Step by Step: How to Create Your First Occupancy Rule
Enter the section: Go to the left menu, find "PORTALS" and select "Occupancy Rules".
Create a new rule: Click on "NEW RULE".
Name it: Use a name that helps you identify it, like "Summer – Minimum Stay 7 Nights".
Define the seasons: Add the dates, minimum and maximum stay, and allowed check-in and check-out days.
Assign the rule: By default, it applies to all accommodations, but you can choose only some if you prefer.
Save the changes: Click "SAVE" to activate the rule.
🔹Useful Tips
You can copy similar configurations using the "COPY SEASON" option, but only between Channel PRO rules.
Review and update your rules at the start of each season.
Use clear names to avoid confusion.
Remove expired rules to avoid availability issues.
🔹Rule Management: Edit and Delete
View details: Click on a rule to see a side panel with its information.
Edit: Inside the panel, click "EDIT" and modify what you need (name, parameters, or assignments).
Delete: You can delete the entire rule or just specific seasons/assignments from the trash icon.
Now that your occupancy rules are active, your calendars automatically adjust to your business strategy. The next step is to periodically review their performance and adapt them according to changes in demand. This way, you'll have full control over your occupancy and more peace of mind in your daily operations.
