Providing accurate information about your accommodation's capacity is essential. Not only does it prevent misunderstandings with guests, but it also helps make your listing more competitive on Booking.com.

With the new feature available in Channel PRO (June 2025), you can now specify separately the maximum number of adults, children, and paying children that can stay in each accommodation.

What can you configure?

From Channel PRO, you will have the ability to indicate:

  • The maximum occupancy of adults

  • The maximum occupancy of children

  • The maximum number of paying children

This will allow you to more clearly show the actual capacity of your accommodation and correctly adjust your rates.

Step by step: how to configure it

General activation

  1. Access Channel PRO and go to the Portals tab (left side).

  2. Click on Configure in the Booking.com section.

  3. Scroll down to the Maximum Occupancy section.

Configuration by accommodation

  1. Enter the Accommodations Activation tab.

  2. Select an accommodation in Published status.

  3. Scroll to the Maximum Occupancy section.

  4. Click on the pencil icon to edit.

  5. Enter the corresponding values.

  6. Click Save.

Attention to details

  • The maximum occupancy of adults cannot exceed the total capacity (adults + children).

  • The maximum number of children must be less than the total capacity.

  • The number of children cannot be greater than the maximum capacity of adults.

  • The maximum number of paying children cannot exceed the maximum occupancy of children.

  • The sum of adults and children must be equal to or greater than the maximum capacity of the accommodation configured in the VRMS.

👉 Remember: the total capacity of the accommodation is still configured in the VRMS and is only shown in Channel PRO as a reference.

Full connection vs partial connection

  • Full connection: the maximum occupancy of adults and children is synchronized with Booking.com.

  • Partial connection: this information is not synchronized with the portal, but it will be considered when generating and sending rates.

Best practices

  • Always check the sum of adults and children to avoid configuration conflicts.

  • Adjust the number of "paying children" according to your rate and supplement policy.

  • If you manage multiple accommodations, use a uniform scheme to define occupancies and facilitate management.

Quick checklist

☑ Activate the feature from the general configuration of Booking.com in Channel PRO.
☑ Edit each accommodation in Published status.
☑ Configure adults, children, and paying children.
☑ Validate that the figures respect the limitations.
☑ Save changes and verify synchronization (if using full connection).

Frequently asked questions

Where do I configure the total capacity of the accommodation?
In the VRMS. This information cannot be modified from Channel PRO.

What happens if the sum of adults and children does not match the total capacity?
The system will display an error and will not allow you to save the changes.

Can I configure different occupancies according to the season?
No. The maximum occupancy is fixed and applies generally to the accommodation.

What happens with children who do not pay?
Only the information of paying children is synchronized. If you allow free children, you must indicate it in your policies or on the Booking.com extranet.

What happens if I have a partial connection?
The configuration will not be sent to Booking.com, but it will influence how the rates sent to the portal are calculated.
