Create Vrbo Promotions Easily from Channel PRO

You can now create, edit, and manage Vrbo promotions without leaving your Avantio Channel PRO panel.

This new functionality allows you to boost your listings’ visibility and attract more bookings through personalized discounts that will automatically appear on Vrbo.

Advantages of Managing Your Vrbo Promotions from Avantio

This new option allows you to:

  • Create and manage all your promotions in one place.

  • Save time with automatic synchronization with Vrbo.

  • Gain flexibility by applying different types of discounts according to your sales strategy.

  • Improve your ranking, since listings with active promotions are more likely to stand out in Vrbo search results.

Attention to detail

  1. Promotions created directly in your Vrbo account are not synchronized with Avantio and will be overwritten by those created in Channel PRO.

  2. To ensure they display correctly on Vrbo, always create them directly from Avantio.

What Can You Do from Channel PRO?

From Channel Manager PRO → Promotions, you can:

  • Create new promotions.

  • Modify their configuration (except the type of promotion once it’s been created).

  • Delete promotions, which will then appear as inactive on Vrbo.

Available Types of Promotions on Vrbo

Vrbo offers four main types of promotions:

Type of Promotion

Description

Early Booking

Rewards guests who book well in advance.

Last Minute

Fills your calendar by offering discounts close to the check-in date.

Mobile-Only

Encourages bookings made from mobile devices.

Membership

Offers special rates to Vrbo members (Blue, Silver, Gold, or Platinum).

A New Listing promotion will soon also be available through the Channel.

Discount Application Formats

You can apply promotional discounts in three different ways:

  • Single discount: a fixed percentage or amount off the total stay.

  • Day-of-week discount: apply different percentages depending on the day (e.g., 10% on Mondays, 20% on Tuesdays).

  • Multiple-night discount: offer discounts for longer stays (e.g., 10% from the third night onward).

Attention to detail
Promotions are applied to the final price, so you can create more than one (for example, an early booking and a last-minute promotion).
However, promotions cannot be combined — if a property has multiple active promotions, Vrbo will automatically show the most advantageous one for the guest.

Promotion Dates and Duration

  • Promotions can be applied for up to two years from the activation date.
Display dates may vary slightly between Avantio and Vrbo.

For example, if you configure an early booking promotion with 60 days of advance notice, Vrbo will show it as active starting 60 days after creation, even though Avantio displays it from activation.

  • Make sure your configured dates do not exceed the two-year limit from the activation date.

Specific Rules by Promotion Type

Early Booking

  • Booking must be made between 60 and 500 days before check-in.

  • Maximum allowed discount: 75%.

Last Minute

  • Booking must be made between 1 and 30 days before check-in.

  • Maximum allowed discount: 75%.

Membership

  • Discounts by day of the week are not allowed.

  • Only percentage-based discounts are accepted.

  • You must define all three membership levels:

    • Blue: minimum 10%.

    • Silver: minimum 11%.

    • Gold/Platinum: minimum 12%.

Attention to detail
A single listing can have multiple types of promotions configured, but they do not stack. Vrbo will always show the best available discount to the guest.
Also, the display of applicable dates may differ between Avantio and Vrbo.

For example, if on January 1, 2025, you configure an early booking promotion with 60 days’ advance notice and set it to apply from January 2 until year-end, Avantio will show the promotion as starting on January 2. Vrbo, however, will display it as active from March 1, 2025, since it requires a 60-day minimum advance notice.

Assigning Properties to Your Promotions

Once a promotion is created, you can easily assign one or more properties to it.
You’ll also see helpful alerts to keep your promotions up to date:

  • Promotions without assigned properties.

  • Expired promotions.

  • Promotions without valid discounts.

Steps to Create a Promotion

  1. Go to Channel Manager PRO → Promotions.

  2. Select Vrbo from the available options.

  3. Create a new promotion or edit/deactivate an existing one.

  4. When configuring the promotion, complete the following fields:

    • Promotion name (for internal use).

    • Promotion type (early booking, last minute, mobile-only, or membership).

The interface will adjust depending on the selected promotion type.

Example Configurations

  • Early Booking / Simple Discount (%)

  • Last Minute / Day-of-Week Discount

  • Mobile-Only / Multi-Night Discount / No Recurrence

  • Membership / Multi-Night Discount / With Recurrence

How Promotions Appear on Vrbo

Promotions are highlighted on the price and property listing, showing the original price crossed out and the discount applied.
They may also appear in search results with labels such as “Special Offer” or “Discount Available”, increasing your listing’s visibility and appeal.

Guests will see the final price with the discount applied, along with the promotion type (e.g., “Early Booking Discount”).

Final Recommendations

  • Create promotions strategically according to the season and occupancy rate.

  • Avoid duplicating promotions on Vrbo and Avantio.

  • Regularly review expiration dates and assigned properties.

  • Use different discount types to adapt to market demand.
