Activate a Geographic Rate in Channel PRO

Connect with new markets and boost bookings during the low season.

When managing accommodations in different markets, adjusting your prices based on the guest's country of origin can make a difference. Geographic or country-specific rates allow you to apply specific discounts based on the traveler's location, which can help you attract more bookings at strategic times. Additionally, they are an excellent way to explore new markets with a more competitive approach.

However, remember that there are countries where these rates are not available due to legal or commercial reasons. And, as a base, the minimum allowed discount is 5%.


What is a Geographic Rate?

It is a promotion that applies an additional discount to travelers from specific countries. It is useful for:

  • Boosting bookings during the low season (when other markets are in their high season).

  • Testing your offer in new markets.

  • Targeting audiences with higher conversion rates.


How to Set Up a Country-Specific Rate in Channel PRO

Follow these steps to create your promotion directly from the platform:

1. Access the "Promotions" Menu

Log into your Channel PRO account and, in the left sidebar, click on "Promotions".

2. Create a New Promotion

Click the "New Promotion" button and select the promotion type "By Country".

Click "Continue" to set the conditions.

3. Set the Promotion Details

Next, you will need to complete the following fields:

  • Promotion Name: use it to identify it internally (it does not sync with Booking.com).

  • Discount: choose the discount percentage (minimum 5%).

  • Availability Period: the promotion will be active all year, except for a maximum of 30 days that you choose to exclude. You can select a block of 30 days or several separate periods.

  • Country or Region: select from the list (or use the search) the country to which the discount will apply.

4. Select the Properties

Indicate which properties you want to apply the promotion to. You can:

  • Select all your properties.

  • Choose specific properties.

5. Save and Activate

Click "Save". The promotion will automatically activate and appear in the Booking.com extranet, as well as in the Channel PRO panel.


Helpful Tip

Choose countries with different time zones and holiday calendars than yours. This will allow you to fill rooms during traditionally quieter periods for you.


How Will the Discount Be Applied?

The discount will automatically appear in searches made from the mobile app or the mobile site of Booking.com, when the user matches the target country of the promotion.


Modify or Delete a Promotion

All active promotions appear in Channel PRO. You can:

  • Edit Conditions: modify the discount, excluded dates, or countries.

  • Delete the Promotion: if you no longer need it.

These changes are automatically reflected on Booking.com.
