Managing Automatic Booking Cancellations on VRBO
How do automatic cancellations from VRBO work?
When a guest decides to cancel their booking on VRBO, this action is automatically synced with your system in Avantio, updating the booking status to “cancelled” and opening the blocked period in the calendar. This way, you won't have to perform any manual management.
Additionally, you will receive two important notifications:
Notification in the VRMS notification center.
Confirmation email informing you about the cancellation.
What information is updated after a cancellation?
When a cancellation occurs, the system will automatically update the following fields:
Booking type: Changes to “cancelled (tourist)”.
Portal remarks: The reason and category of the cancellation will be reflected in this section in the VRMS booking record.

Each cancellation made by the guest on VRBO may include a reason, which will be recorded in the portal remarks. Below are the available categories and reasons for cancellation:

What if the property manager makes the cancellation?
If you, as the property manager, make the cancellation, you must cancel the booking in the VRMS, and the cancellation will sync with VRBO.

Access the VRMS and go to the booking you wish to cancel.
Change the booking status to "Cancelled".
